Anthropic opens tiered verified access for life-sciences AI work
Anthropic introduced the Life Sciences Verification Program on September 17 in beta for teams and institutions. Applicants are reviewed for research credentials, security standards, and ethical oversight. Approved organizations can seek annually renewed Standard Use for broad team workflows or six-month, project-specific High-risk Use. High-risk grants currently cover Opus 5 and Sonnet 5, while non-biology protections such as cyber classifiers remain active. The operational lesson is to make identity, project scope, supervision, and renewal auditable parts of access control. Teams should also define export limits, anomaly escalation, offboarding, and evidence retention before broader model access is granted and regularly tested.
